1988 Graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering & worked in Washington DC for a defense contractor writing databases for NAV-Air and working in Campaign and Inauguration teams.
1989 Moved to Japan & worked for various companies (Sony, Hitachi, Siemens Japan, Fujitsu, etc) doing consulting and provided technical English training.
1991 Started working for law firm Morrison & Forester as Japan IT Manager and Asia Computer Coordinator & started Computec (Japan).
1999 Incorporated Computec Engineering – Computec has offices in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong ,Malaysia and Indonesia.
John is investor in numerous technology related start-ups in both Japan and in other parts of Asia. He sold one entity (PBXL) in 2015 which was acquired by Broadsoft and Broadsoft was later acquired by Cisco in 2017.
